Prof. Melissa de Raaf

With the CARTE BLANCHE series, the Filmwerkstatt Düsseldorf invites filmmakers to choose eight of their personal favourite films from the range offered by filmfriend. The Professor of Dramaturgy and Filmic Storytelling has been teaching at the KHM since the summer semester of 2018. Her work as a screenwriter and director moves in an international, cross-border space. With her feature film debut "Felicia über alles" (2009, together with Răzvan Rădulescu) she received international attention and has since been associated with Romanian auteur cinema. She has been involved in the following films and screenplays, among others: "Podslon" (2010, directed by Dragomir Sholev), "The Fine Differences" (2012, directed by Sylvie Casey-Michel), "La Incorrupta" (2016, directed by Tamar Guimarâes) and "Ensaio" (2018, directed by Tamar Guimarâes). Melissa de Raaf is also an independent curator of film programmes and exhibitions in the field of audiovisual arts. Until 2004, she was a member of the selection committee of the Impakt Festival in Utrecht (NL).
